Hire the Hurricane Chasers: Why The Best Team You'll Ever Build Looks Nothing Like You've Been Taught
In this episode, my guest Ian Wilson, a creative agency owner of over 16 years, is what I call a natural-born entrepreneur. From hustling for his first job at age eleven to building a unique partnership with his neurodivergent entrepreneur business partner Eric, Ian sheds light on why traditional approaches to communication and leadership rarely work for people whose brains are wired a bit differently.

Do you host a podcast?
My wheelhouse as a podcast guest is the intersection of neurodiversity, small business ownership, and personal growth.
I’d love to be your guest.
What I offer as a guest
I am an expert in mental health (especially ADHD), small business ownership, and emotional resiliency. I've been self-employed since 2010 and have started and run several successful businesses.
My style is direct and often irreverent, yet always professional. I do use colorful language on my own podcast, but if you don’t have an E rating, or don’t care for the occasional “F-bomb,” it’s your show, so I will follow your lead.
I am a business strategist, coach, mentor (and former psychotherapist) for neurodivergent small business owners, creatives, and independent professionals.
I love to talk about unlearning the cultural conditioning that made you an employee of the month, so you can become a badass business owner. They are not the same skillset.
My credentials (for those who care about such things) are: bachelors and masters degrees from UCLA, and coach training and certification. I've lost track of the units I've earned at the School of Hard Knocks, but estimate they are in the thousands.
I have launched and run several businesses and worked with hundreds of clients to craft a business based on their unique brilliance and expertise, while reducing their risk for burnout.
I am now on a mission to help established small business owners create stand-out, sought-after, profitable and right-sized businesses and eliminate everything that wastes their money, time, and talent.

I’ve been told I have an “NPR quality voice,” don’t fumble the ball, go off on tangents, use excessive filler words, or shamelessly self-promote, which means less work for your editor. Pro quality mic & headphones and happy to do video as well as audio recording.
