Confidently ADHD

Some of us have had challenging experiences as a result of our ADHD symptoms, especially when we are able to see how we need to do things differently from others. The prospect of disappointing ourselves or others has never been easy, and it’s even harder to try to conform to the norm to meet the expectations set by our society or peers. There were many times when we doubted our abilities, and it has caused us to lose confidence in ourselves.

In this episode, I would like to share with...

I Caught Myself Doing it Again

I like to think of myself as open-minded. And more than that, I like to think of myself as positive, growth-oriented and someone who is committed to continuous personal evolution. I have worked with therapists off and on throughout my adult life and have been to a variety of healers of various modalities. I worked with a shamanic healer, a faith healer, a chiropractor who practiced muscle testing and energy healing. I have pulled tarot cards, angel cards, diffused essential oils, studied...

How to Handle Being Forgetful

When you have ADHD, it is not unusual to forget objects or events. I even forget the names of the people I meet and I'm just as likely to forget a conversation that I really enjoyed as much as one that was a total sleeper.

If you are like me, you may also have struggled with feeling anxious, being self-conscious, embarrassed, and ashamed about memory limitations, especially with respect to interpersonal relationships.

If you feel afraid to offend, hurt, or disappoint people, over the...

Don't Outsource Your Self Esteem

It can be hard to generate self-confidence in this day and age. It like insecurity, social anxiety, and imposter syndrome are nearly universal among young women, who ruthlessly compare themselves to one another and find themselves lacking. One of the reasons for this, I believe is because we seek permission from others to be ourselves. We outsource our self-esteem by allowing whether others approve of us or not to determine whether or not we are able to approve of ourselves. It can be tough...

Born This Way?

What fires up a woman’s engine and starts her on the road to becoming a driven woman?
We are surrounded by these women, and sometimes we wonder where they get their drive and how they stay determined to achieve their goals.

We have seen a lot of women who did not have everything they needed to be successful from the start, but they were able to work their way up despite their circumstances, despite what society told them about their potential.

Where does our drive come from? Does it...

Hope has Nothing to do With it

Nearly every person I know has a great, big shiny dream. They can envision themselves living the new life they will have when this dream becomes reality and often daydream about it happening "someday.' Whether they want to start a business, live in a foreign country, adopt a child, go back to school or transform their health, most of us long for something we don't have and believe our lives will be better, happier or more satisfying when we do. And the majority of us won't ever see those...

The Need for Speed

Being able to think, feel, and do things quickly is our nature. We want to act now and act quickly. This is one of the key traits of an entrepreneur and because we tend to do things quickly, other people may try to slow us down. Oftentimes, we comply and we feel the need to explain or apologize for our actions.

If we continue to suppress our need for speed and slow down in order to act more like others, we will feel out of touch with ourselves. It would not feel natural and sometimes, it...

You Are Responsible

I am 100% responsible for my life. The person I have become, how much or how little I have accomplished, how much I own and how much I owe. How many friends I have and how many enemies. The lines on my face and the letters after my name. It's all on me. And I am totally willing to accept this reality and believe I am empowered by it.

Where I grew up, there were plenty of people who had a leg up in life from the start. Their parents had money, status, and connections and they taught...

Tall Poppies and Jealous Crabs

It’s easy to observe the “tall poppy syndrome” and “crab mentality” everywhere we go, once you know what to look for. Crab mentality is a behavior observed in crabs when they are in a bucket. When one crab gets on top and is on its way to freedom, another crab grabs it and pulls it down. The tall poppy syndrome is an Australian expression that refers to the behavior of people who cut down those who are more successful, confident, and achieve more than them.

Choose Your Habits or They Will Choose You

Have you ever noticed how everything you think, feel and do eventually becomes a habit? It starts out innocently enough, that first puff of someone else's cigarette at a party in middle school and the next thing you know, you're a pack a day smoker. And, I'm not just talking about the addictive stuff. Obviously, if you smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol or use drugs, you are very likely to form an addictive habit, but it's just as likely that you are going to form a habit around drinking coffee...
